Let’s get to making these fun Christmas trees! I hope you enjoy working them up!

The Easy Crochet Christmas Trees crochet pattern is available for FREE on this website. If you’d like an ad-free, printable PDF version, you may purchase it for a small fee from my Etsy or Ravelry shops. Thank you so much for supporting Loops & Love Crochet!

Materials:

  • Worsted Weight (#4) Yarn – Cotton or acrylic yarn will be perfect for working up your easy crochet Christmas trees. The trees pictured were made with Yarnspirations Caron Simply Soft Party yarn. You’ll need approximately 85 – 100 yards of yarn depending on which size of tree you’re making. The yardage will be split almost evenly between a main color and an accent color.
  • 4mm crochet hook
  • Stuffing (any fiber-based stuffing like Poly-fil or Fiber Fill)
  • A piece of cardboard (to cut into a circle to insert into base of tree)
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends
  • Scissors for cutting yarn (these are my favorite!)

Stitches Used:

  • Ch – chain
  • Sl St – slip stitch
  • SC – single crochet
  • DC – double crochet
  • SC DEC (or Sc2tog) – single crochet decrease
  • Long SC – SC worked into a stitch from the previous round
  • 2DC Cluster – Two Double Crochet Cluster (same as DC2TOG except in same stitch): Yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Yarn over, insert hook into same stitch, pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through all 3 remaining loops. See photo tutorial for this stitch at the end of the pattern.

Finished Size:

  • Finished tree measurements are:
    • Small Tree: approx. 5.5” tall
    • Medium Tree: approx. 7” tall
    • Large Tree: approx. 8.5” tall

Gauge:

  • Gauge is not critical for this pattern to turn out, however, for reference, 2 inches square is approximately 12 rows of 11 stitches.

Important Notes:

  • This pattern is worked in joined rounds. This means that when you finish the stitches of one round, you will be joining to the first stitch of the round with a slip stitch before starting the next round of the pattern, starting in same stitch as chain 1 (or 2).
  • Chain stitches at the start of each round and between the 2DC Cluster stitches do not count towards stitch count for each round.
  • Color changes – To make the color changes in this pattern, complete the last stitch of the round up to the last yarn over. Yarn over with the new color and pull through the last step of the stitch. Keep your color changes and seam less noticeable by pulling slip stitch joins nice and tight.
