Do you love crocheting hats and scarves? Do you crochet items to donate to local shelters, hospitals, etc. to help those in need? If you answered yes to these questions, I bet you’ll love Crochet for a Cause! This amazing idea and event was organized by Ashley of Edyth Blayn. Read on to learn all about this event and how to get some free PDF crochet patterns!
What is Crochet for a Cause?
Crochet for a Cause is a weekly summer round up of free PDF crochet patterns for hats and scarves! Every Monday from June through August, two new crochet patterns will be featured and links will be provided for you to download the PDFs for those patterns for FREE! The idea is that by the end of summer, you’ll have made so many new hats and scarves that you’ll have a great collection to donate to your local shelters, hospitals, and anyone in need!
How do I get the free patterns?
Every Monday, from June 1st – August 31st, two new patterns will be featured in the round up below. You’ll have until midnight on Sunday of each week to visit the featured patterns and download the PDFs. After each week, a new roundup of two patterns will be posted and you’ll have a week to download those two patterns. This will repeat each week, ALL SUMMER LONG! Scroll down to the patterns featured for this week!
Here’s a super simple image to show you exactly how Crochet for a Cause works!

Okay, are you ready to get started with the weekly roundups? Scroll down below to the current week and visit the two new featured patterns. Each week, I’ll add the two new featured patterns below! Have fun crocheting all of these new patterns!

Hello, I do a lot of knitting and crocheting for charities. It’ll be nice to do different patterns.
Where do I sign up, a little confused on that part. Thanks in advance for your creativity! Debbie O.

Hi Debbie! Thanks for your question. It's s nice that you make a lot of items for charities! You are so thoughtful and generous! The Crochet for a Cause event is not something that you'll need to sign up for. Basically, designers are offering the PDF version of certain hat and scarf patterns for a week at a time throughout the summer and encouraging that you use the new free patterns to make items to donate to local charities or people in need in your area. We would love to see any items you make throughout this event by sharing on social media with #crochetcause2020 . I hope that makes sense! :)
